I'm confused. Why don't you just run in 6th gear for long distances?

maybe he just doesnt know better. as far as gas mileage goes, you want to be in the highest gear possible without lugging the engine. so if you're moving long distance, and you can upshift, do it.

I was askedwhat RPM's should you use on in town driving, the guy is new at riding and it kind of confusedme because I just listen to the engine but he wants to know.Hedoesn't want to be too high but he doesn't want to bog it down in the next gear.

whenever i'm running it hard i'll try to stay in a low gear high rpm's for power...but if i'm just cruising i'll use the recommended shift points for best gas mileage...if i need the power i can alwayz downshift
