Default replacing hud w/ just little speedometer

Want to replace the heads up display with just a small speedometer. anybody know how to just wire up the lights and speedometer???
And ill state the reason because somebody will ask. I like the idea off keeping that center part clean. And taking off that mount that holds it will shave some pounds off. I was considering the mirrors too but the stock mirrors are extremely light. Can anybody help me with this wiring??? anybody ever done it???

I don't know how to wire it, but first off it's not a Heads Up Display (HUD), it's a gauge cluster...could it be done...sure, but you'd be missing a lot of nice features the cluster offers...like turn indicators, fuel gauge, RPMs (most important IMO) and required odometer...plus I think it would look like crap and are you serious..."shave some pounds off!!!" I know people that race professionally and don't mess with the gauge cluster. One of the best weight reduction modifications is adding a full exhaust system and personally I wouldn't be comfortable removing my mirrors unless I was going to the track...I like seeing things behind me. The risks far out weigh the benefits (if any).

Just my opinion...

you can take a bike all apart and put it back together just fine..done it serveral times no problems.. i currently have eveything infront of the shocks off, and it will go back on just as easy as it came off.

If you want to save weight, take a poo. It's worth at least 5 lbs.
