Default Removing batt for winter

I have a 03 RR and went to take the batt out for winter. I got all the wires off and pulled up on it and it hit the bracket for the seat. So I had to take off this bracket. So my question is do I have to take bracket off everytime? or am I missing the ninja skills to get it out.

Just every winter season weather up here hits -20*f or colder so I store the batt inside. I dont care I have to take the bracket off except the nuts that hold them on always fall down into the lower bike plastic
