i heard someone say that in 2008 they hid the hesd, whereas in 2007 it is visible. is this true?

For the 1000RR that's true. The first 600RR with hesd was the 2007 model and it was always underneath the tank cover.

did they change back the timing for the 2010 and 2011 models to have the same hp as the 07-08, or do the 2010 and 2011's still have the lower hp of the 2009?

Unfortunately they didn't. It was all to meet EPA regulations so it looks like it's here to stay.

its looking more and more like sports bikes have already reached their peak around 2007 or 2008, now it seems like emissions is causing them to go downhill. pretty soon their all going to be full electric, god i dread the day that happens.
