Since the dual inlets are open to the environment, is "ram air" really affected that much since air basically still has a straight path into the airbox?

Picked this up at the beginning of June. First bike ever. (I literally had never sat on one until my friend taught me how to ride on his '05.) It has been an awesome couple of months! (Don't worry, I've already taken the MSF course and am signed up for the sportbike course this fall.)
Don't worry. I've already planned a fender eliminator, flush mounts, and the usual "clean up" items. Then I'll move on to performance.

Here is my 2006 600RR i pick up just over a week ago. Its got a little over 10K on it now. The guy i bought it from at dropped it and taken off the fairings to repair them but never did. I put the fairings back on the bike and gave it a good washing. The plastics arent to bad since it was a pretty slow lay over. I also installed a new rear Dunlop Q2 last week and will be doing the front shortly. The only other things i want to do is replace the aftermarket mirrors with the stock ones. Anyway here are a couple pictures after the bath.
