actually most HID on cars more like 5400. on most stock ones. if you look at all the factory ones they look blue on the headlight but yellow to white on the ground.NOT BLUE. i have the 6000's and they make stock HID look yellow. but i would not go over 6000, for reasons that cops already dont like you, there are certain colors of heallights you can have, hyper extreme blue and purple are not on the list.

the other thing to think about when on you bike if you ever notice you headlight line right up on ppls rear veiw mirror, not our stock light **** them off enough. you think shining some hella bright HID in there face is gunna make them say nice bike..no...your gunna get brake checked.
My 10000k HID kit is DOT approved, meaning they are 100% legal. No, my bulbs ARE NOT BLUE on the ground. They are bright white on the road, and they are deep blue/purple at the headlight. Parked next to my neighbors' BMW M5 (which has STOCK 8500k HID's), they are very similar, but mine have more purple in the color at the headlight.

Also, if your headlight is lined up with a cars rear view mirrors while you are riding at say, 35mph, you're either tailgating or have your beams adjusted way too high.

Also the farther you go up the k rating it actually results in less visibility. Anything over (I think) 12,000k results in less visibility but has a different color (looks cooler!)

Correct. 10000k is about the highest you can go retaining the bright white output onto the road. 12000k and higher results in a slight purplish/blue hue to the white. The higher the K rating, the deeper the blue/purple becomes.....but the dimmer the light output is. 6000k-8000k is usually the magic area to stay around in. I went with 10000k because I'm used to my car headlights being 10000k. But I do agree with the higher K rating being cooler looking. I saw a 30000k HID (illegal "show only") system installed on a Lincoln Navigator. The entire road was deep blue. They looked cool, but they weren't practical in the least bit.

Also, for all of you people out there wanting yellower HID's for depth perception purposes (which really do work great). The 3500k HID's are very yellow and very bright. - Some of the Le Mans 24-hour races use the racing spec yellow HID's. (1500k-2000k).

To stop that annoying glare in snow and fog with the HID/Xenon get yellow fog lights. I do it on my Audi A4 and it stops the glare. HID head over heals better then the PIAA. It's worked on my friends Yamaha R1 and CBR 600RR. On the '05 CBR 600RR we put in yellow (trying to find the name of the brand) for the driving light and HID for the high and low beam. Where I live it's pretty dark going to club meets, so it's nice to have. The Yamahaa we just put in a HID for the low beam and yellow for the driving light. The '03 CBR 954RR I just bought I'll be putting them in also. Can't live without them.
I know this post is old, so i'm just writing this as a reference for somebody looking for answers.
