yo mang...white light shines good and brightens everything up, but as you can see from the pix, there's really no contrast with the asphalt...yellow is best for short distances in front and contrast.

i run 1 phillips foul weather bulb (yellow) and one silverstar...i got the best of both worlds. HIDS are just too bright mang and has no contrast with the asphalt, so although brighter, you can't see details on the aspalt, like bumps, etc.

stick with 55W...or else you'll melt things.
as far as the 170 PIAA bulbs, they are not HID...just HID like bulbs. they just that xenon bulb stuff.

the bulbs i was using were 100 watts. it didnt fry the entire harness, just the main plug. the 55w bulbs are not much dif. from the stock bulbs.
PIAA doesn't make 100W bulbs. All their H7 bulbs are the stock 55W.

Having said that, I've had no problems with PIAA in my bikes. I buy them because they are the stock wattage. They're not as bright as HID but they're definitely brighter than stock and they do light up the night.

All I have to say is this.

HID's ARE THE BEST MOD I'VE EVER DONE TO MY CAR, NOW THE BEST MOD I'VE EVER DONE TO MY BIKE. PERIOD.

They give off the whitest light possible, the brightest light possible (250% more than halogen), and they just look freaking awesome. They attract a lot of attention (which I want so car drivers will see me at night).

I got the 10000k H7 HID kit ($129.99) for my bike that came with 2 bulbs, 2 harnesses, 2 ballasts, 2 igniters (only installed the low beam so far).

NOW......they don't only have HID's that are blue/purple. They have HID's from 3000k (yellow) to 30000k (deep purple). BMW, Mercedes, etc uses anywhere from 8000k-10000k systems. My system I installed is 10000k. It's a very deep blue at the headlight, BRIGHT WHITE on the road.

I'll do a writeup about the whole installation (extention of harnesses, where I mounted the HUGE ballasts, ignitors, etc.) But for now, here's some preliminary pics I took while installing the lights:

Couldn't find ANYWHERE to hide 1 of the ballasts (much less 2), so I hid them under the rear seat. They fit perfectly, and I still have room for a power commander. lol. You have to extend the wiring harness though. You might be able to buy harness extention kits, but I just made my own.

actually most HID on cars more like 5400. on most stock ones. if you look at all the factory ones they look blue on the headlight but yellow to white on the ground.NOT BLUE. i have the 6000's and they make stock HID look yellow. but i would not go over 6000, for reasons that cops already dont like you, there are certain colors of heallights you can have, hyper extreme blue and purple are not on the list.

the other thing to think about when on you bike if you ever notice you headlight line right up on ppls rear veiw mirror, not our stock light **** them off enough. you think shining some hella bright HID in there face is gunna make them say nice bike..no...your gunna get brake checked.
