Newbie Oil Question

I did some searchs for this stuff and about all i found was that people use different oil on different bikes. I couldnt find anything in the 600rr forums that answered this so i will just ask really quick. I just bought my 600rr like two weeks ago and im going to change out the oil. What consistancy should i use and some opinions on what brand? I was thinking mobil causei have always loved it in my car! (A little bit of extra info in case it helps) I have a 2004 600rr with two brothers exhaust, K&N filter, power commander, and its been geared down. Ithas about9000 miles on it andi dont take it to the track or anything like that. Thanks in advance!

The best thing to do now is go to the dealer and buy the same oil they put in your bike.:D

RE: Newbie Oil Question

oil is oil

there is a guy on 1000rr.net whose name is scootr
for a living he analyzes engine oil.
after 26 years of study he reports that mobil 1 gold cap 15w 50 made for cars is one of the best oils out there for a bike.

because it is practically identical to motorcycle oil

me, I use repsol 4T full synth 10w50 but and thinking of going to the mobil 1 next oil change

see here is the thing though, it really doesnt matter, these things were meant to go 8K miles on plain old honda gn4 dino oil.

do some searching, read a couple different sites and form your own opinions
then try some different types out.
worst that can happen is that you have to replace your clutch
