Jay you'll be ok on it. The 600 isn't the best bike to learn on, but it's certainly doable. If you're level headed and respect the bike it will treat you just fine. Just watch out though, once you get the rpm's up past 7 or 8k it will really open up and bite. Keep it down low for a while.

Jay,
The key is respect of the bike, it sounds like you do have respect. It does not matter if it is a 250 or a CBR1000RR. Any bike can hurt you. Sometimes the smaller bikes are more dangerous that the big race bikes.

Remember the street is not a personal race track for fast bikes, go to the race track for speed!

You will do great! Keep a positive attitude.
