so your bike has been sitting with no oil for a couple of months?????? with filter your bike takes 3.1 quarts. just because it had a honda filter doesnt mean its the stock one, i run honda filters on my bike. As far as your overflow bottle goes your fine with it not being full as long as there your radiator is full. you can check this by opening the fill cap the coolant should be at the top. it would be best to top off you over flow though. how many miles does your bike have? you my want to just change the coolant all togethor

Don't think the overflow is supposed to be "full". Check your manual for the coolant changing procedure and find where it talks about "bleeding" your radiator. It's possible your bike is a little different, but my bike calls for less than half full on the reservoir. After all, its an "overflow" reservoir... where is the coolant going to overflow to if the reservoir is full? 50/50 pre-mixed coolant is fine.

Check your manual for the amount of oil in the future, though oak did the work for you this time. You can check with your local honda deal about getting the right filter.

All of this is in your manual. If you're going to be maintining this bike yourself you'll want to become familiar with troubleshooting using the manual, it's a great resource.

Good luck!!

i use a K&N Filter and it works really good...your coolant res. should have a line i usually just fill it too the line if you fill it to much it the excess will just come out the overflow...
hope this helped good luck!

to caviot what chuck and ocho said there should be a low line and a high line on the over flow reservoir. and 2nd do your self a favor and do not run K&N oil filters. some of the worst filtering on the market and a ridiculous price to go along with it. if you want a great oil filter go with puralator

there should just be a line to stop filling at. its about 3 quarts, if you do more it will just overflow.
