Hey
im pretty new to the motorcycle scene but ive wanted one since.. idk maybe 13 years old and now im finally seriously looking for one. I'm 20 and i was just wondering if the CBR600RR or even the F4 is a good starter bike. i dont want anything bigger to learn on but i do want somethin taht still looks cool so i was aiming at maybe a 2000 or newer if i get a good deal. so i was just wonderingif u guys thoughtthat the CBR600 is a good bike to start with. i have a decent amount of experience on dirtbikes and 4 wheelers which i kno is not the same but it is a base that i can learn from

Well how about an F4 for starters it will give a real world idea of how riding on the street differs from riding dirtbikes and 4 wheelers. The road is unforgiving not to mention other cagers who dont care second one about u and your new shiny bike....what ever your decision..welcome aboard and post up those pics when u get it....im sure more of the same will follow..just make the right choices...and take a class...

The F4 is more comfortable, has the one piece seat, and lots of little things like that. Both bikes have 600cc engines, although different engines I believe. I just bought a 07 CBR600RR, and my friend bought an 06 CBR600F4. Both are amazing bikes, and I think you would be happy with either. There are a few other threads comparing the two, check em out.

F4 is definently a better starter bike... The RR in 600 RR stands for Race Ready so you should base your decision off that. The F4 is alot more comfortable and is a little more forgiving ( not much more but a lil more). The most important thing is to take an MSF class. At this time of the year they are usually full, but it's well worth it... IMO of course. Also make sure and get good gear. Its better to spend the money on quality gear then have to pay extra medical bills due to not having gear on i.e. ROAD RASH! A guy once told me there are two types of riders: Those who have fallen and those who are going to fall. So def. dont go out and buy a brand new shiny bike that cost alot. Because chances are you're going to drop it even though it may be while sitting still. So what i would recommend is : 1st take the MSF course. 2nd Go out and buy a good running used bike that you can ride for a while until you get used to street riding. 3rd Be safe and ride within your limits.
