More torque
Im looking to get more low end torque out of my 06 cbr 600. It is pretty much stock expect for pinebox exhaust on it which is virtually straight pipes. I am thinking about changing the sprockets maybe one down one up. Then in the future putting in a power commander and K and N air filter. But for now has anyone changed their sprockets? and what size sprocket did you go with?

Most common sprocket sizes is -1 front and +2 rear
Have a look on this site to see your gains and losses: www.gearingcommander.com Just choose you bike from the drop downs and you can adjust to your hearts content :) Dont forget your speedo will be out if you change sprocket sizes, so a speedohealer is a useful purchase afterwards. |
Great site thanks i like the -1 +2. Im not to worried about top speed the speed limit is 65 i just want to be able to get to 65 with a little more power.:icon_teeth:

If you go -1 up front remember your speedo is going to be off. You might want to look into getting a speedohealer to correct it.

I have an 06 600RR. I recently went -1 up front and +3 in the rear. I love the power she gets now. Makes wheelies a breeze.

How bad did it hurt your top end if any? and did you have to get a bigger chain too?
I kept the chain I had on there and it fit. I hear when you switch sprockets its a good idea to swap chains as well. I was a little tight on money so I held off but I plan of buying a new chain shortly. But she def. takes off quicker now. Its a blast. Hope this helps you some. |

This is completely incorrect. 600's top out at about about 157 mph. I've had my RR top out in 6th gear at 156 mph. They will not reach 170. 1000's will struggle to get to 170. I had a 01 F4i with -1 up front and it would rocket up to 125 but then struggle past there. It honestly seemed like from 125 to 130 would take forever. Now you can't do this legally on the street so if you're going stop light to stop light you don't need top end. You just need to find out what is more important to you, acceleration or top end. For me I like the stock gearing cause I can still pull the front wheel with no effort, have great acceleration and good top end not to mention I don't have to mess with the speedo.
I said I was doing around 155 with the speedo reading 170. Still had some bike left when I let off. I can promise my bike will do every bit of 160-165... |
