Default Mileage on a RR?

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum, don't have a motorcycle yet but I'm working my tail off to get my dream bike ('03-up body style CBR) and I have a question. How many miles can these bikes handle? There are two for sale near me, both are yellow '03s, but one has 7k miles while the other has 12k miles. The picture I was sent for the 12k miles one looks very clean. I've only got about $3.5k right now but in a month or so I should have the full asking price...I just don't want to buy a bike that's going to need a lot of stuff done to it in the near future. Also, how hard are mirrors to acquire for these bikes? One does not have the mirrors on it, but I would want them on. Thanks guys and I look forward to communicating more with everyone as I get closer to purchasing a bike.

Matt

The mileage doesn't seem to be a problem. Make sure that you check that the bikes haven't been dropped or laid down too hard. Mirrors should be easy to find on EBay. We have guys on here that have put well over 50k miles on their bikes and they are still going strong. If you are really concerned about the mileage, find someone that knows about motorcycles and have them look the bikes over. Good luck!

I agree with Rotts, the mileage doesn't sound to bad at all. You figure the one with 12K, he/she put about 4K/yr on the bike, which is pretty good. Try to get as much history, maintenance-wise, about the bikes as possible and look over them thoroughly. Ask the owner questions to see if they have any knowledge about bikes or they just rode'em. I'm going to try to PM you a checklist I use when I look at used bikes. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I forget the member name, but some kat put 50K on an F4i in 2 years. Mileage is not an issue with good maintenance. Do a search for the post some good reading.

Thanks I appreciate it! I'm just pretty much new to bikes, so I don't know what normal mileage is, etc. Thanks again for the info guys!

my first bike had over 16k on it, and i rode it for a year and a half and had absolutely no problems....when you get it, change the oil out even if they said they already did....good luck!
