looking at getting a CBR600rr
So in my area there are a couple of CBR600rr's for sale. There is an 04 for about 4500 and 06 for 5500 and an 07 for 7000 (Canadian prices).
The 07 is out of my price range for the time being. February is the best month to buy so I'm trying to figure out what I want to do.
First let me say this will be my second Super Sport, I had a 95 zx6r, I sold it last summer and have been added to the new motorcycle stash. I'm 6'3 240lbs.
I have looked at spec differences between the 03-04 model, and the 05-06 model. Some weight differences inverted forks that many say didn't really improve the performance all that much, as the 03-04 were beefy, and a smother throttle control on the 05-06 but a Power commander could smooth that out on an 03-04.
SO I'm not sure here. I like the look of all the 600rr 03-09. (The only thing is the black I'm guessing they are air intakes? on the side of the farings on the 03-04 model I'm not crazy about)
I will be mostly using this bike for summer commuting, back road twisteys and light track duty.
Should I got with the cheaper 04, pick up the 06, or save my pennies and get an 07-09? Ultimately I'm looking for a bike I will be happy with for the next 4 years with ALL have under 10,000km on them.

RE: looking at getting a CBR600rr
I like my '03 (granted its being a pain in the butt right now) I would say look them both over and see if there are any signs of abuse/wrecks, which one looks in better shape, the 06 being 2 years newer could be better off but i have seen new bikes get tore up QUICK and old bikes that still look mint, it just depends on who was riding it and taking care of it.
look for
-scratches on the forks swing arm and engine covers, even if the plastics and engine covers look mint but the forks or swing arm don't, the bike has been down, and probably hard seeing as they replaced the engine cover.
-bit of rubber stuck to the under tail area, this points to burn outs, and while one burn out does not kill a bike, it does show a general disregard for the bike.
-a paint scheme that wasn't stock for that year => repaint or swap => bike was laid down.
there is more, but I forget.

RE: looking at getting a CBR600rr
I think i sometimes look a tad big on my RR im 6' 190 lol. I just picked up my 07 a month or so ago (had an 02 F4i) i paid $6900, from what you said the 07 is about the same price ( imo 7000 for an 07' is a great price!!) at least in Can it is. My opinion may be a bit biased but id say save your pennies for the 07'
At least you will have a machine to last 4yrs and beyond. good luck, and welcome to the Board btw

i gotta say i love my o7. i'm not quite as tall as you, 5'8' and way about 185, but love the feel of the bike. it's nice now b/c you can mod it out. alot more variety now then when it first came out. i've also rode with a few people who liked the 07 over the 03-06. good luck.

RE: looking at getting a CBR600rr
Thank you guys for your input, I really think the 07 is the winning number here. Mainly I want a bike I can own for 5-7 years so the newest seems to being winning out just on that idea alone. Not to say and 03-4 wouldn't be good for that long I just think in means usage and stuff breaking down. Plus I love the look of the 3rd gens in the mat black, or white.
Thanks for the welcome!!!
