Little help on fairing removal

I'm trying to remove the fairings that sit right under the grips on the handlebar and have no idea how it comes off. It looks like its locked into the tank cover some how. Do I have to remove that cover as well to get that piece off? I already got the push-in clip on the inside and the bolts on the outside off, but it doesn't seem to want to come off of the bike. Thanks for the help guys.

just snoop and check the inside of the upper side fairings might be some things to unclip up there.

Just had mine completely apart and painted 6 weeks ago... those little pieces slide then turn to the outside of the bike... they have a small niche/hook way of locking in under the lip of the gas tank cover... It would probably help to loosen the bolts at the top of the tank next to the handle bars as well

the air duct covers are removed by....

1. remove the black fastener on the inside.. u unscrew it till it pops out. then pull it all out w/ ur hand.
2. pull the whole plastic piece back and then pull it up from the front... it should still be attached to the tank, but unhinged from the front fairing.
3. on the part connected ot the tank.. slide it left and right and baby it out by pullin' it outward... it is interlocked w/ the tank via lil tabs...

Thanks a lot. Got the piece off. The little tab up front was my problem. Wasn't sure how to get that part off.

I don't have pics, but if you follow the air duct cover toward the headlight you should fine a little protrusion from the upper fairing region. it looks like an "O". Then you need to "unhook" your duct cover from the "O". The best way to do this safely, IMO, is to take off the clutch lever and do the left side first. Once you get used to it you will no longer need to do this. But until then, it may save your paint.
