Knock
So newb to this forum... i bought an 05 600rr, has what sounds like a rod bearing knocking low left side of the engine, shavings in the oil, and matches taps with rpm change. Not sluggish on the acceleration. Guy i bought it from cracked the oil pan. Assuming it ran dry or low oil and caused this issue. Curious i cant find a master rebuild kit for this engine. Anyone out there have a lead on a full kit? Comparing costs of a running engine used vs a full diy rebuild eh its not much more for a better overall outcome. Ive built a few auto engines in the past not expecting much difference other than smaller package.... any help would be much appreciated

Rod and crank bearing kits are available, but you won't know what you need until you get it apart unfortunately.

Yeah that's why i was looking for a full rebuild kit. Who knows how long this engine was ran with it in this condition, oil contaminated or non existent. I'd assume cams n journals, valve seals n stems, piston rings and block walls all are either damaged from chunks of metal or have excessive wear from friction... all I've seen online are top end performance kits... any sources for either full kits or two halves? Being an auto guy not too familiar with internals of bike transmissions, I'm sure if they share an oil supply there maybe more i need. Any thoughts?

The thoughts are that full rebuild kits are rarely available for bikes - the engines are not really rebuilt often - bikes are inexpensive compared to cars after all. Either take it apart and buy the parts you need, or buy a replacement from a breaker.
