Iron Butt CBR 600RR
Hey all,
I want to do long distance touring on my CBR 600RR. Yeah, I know it's nuts. If you're curious as to why, the basic reason is that I am not a millionaire. I have a CBR 600RR. I don't have the money to get a bike for every style of riding I might get into. I don't want to sell the CBR and get an ST1300 and then find myself frustrated on track day. I have one bike. That's all I want. I am happy with it. But I want to go touring.
So what kind of stuff can I get to tour? Where can I get hard bags? Trunks? What is the comfyest seat? What are some good tank bags that will give me cargo capacity and still let me lay on the tank when I am powering down th road? Are there any minimally invasive alterations that can be made to footpegs and handlebars that will improve comfort significantly without seriously degrading handling? What are some good grips?
Answers to these questions as well as any advice others may have who do long distance riding on CBRs, particularly the 600RR, would be greatly asppreciated. Thanks.

First..Welcome to the forum. I have not been here long but have managed to post alot and also take alot of information from the boards. You have made an excellent choice.
I actually have had my '07 600RR for about 6 weeks now and on Thursday I leave for a 1500 mile round tripper.
As for bags for the bike, I have found the Tourmaster Cortech sport saddle bags and tail bag. I just ordered mine and hopefully will have them tomorow. The reviews are quite good and also saw that people with the CBR600 have used it and have written good things.
Here is the link: http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/prod...149&cat=31there is also a link to the tail bag off of this page.
Good Luck

re: Corbin - they make good seats enmasse - but if you want a REAL touring seat you need to go and see or call one of the professional touring seat makers. There are a number of them out there - Russel, Rick Mayer and Bill Mayer come to mind. They will take your stock seat pan and build it up. They'll take your measurements and build a nice deep plow mans seat. They will make the comfiest seat you can have.
Personally I haven't gone to that extreme... I don't have the money and I didn't put in long enough days that I can't live with what I have.
