Integrated Mirror Options
I performed a search but came up with very little.
I'm looking to add integrated mirrors to my 2006 RR as a winter project. Other than the outrageously priced 1000 RR Honda mirrors, I found two options on Ebay. Any comments and/or reviews of these mirrors would be greatly appreciated!! https://i8.ebayimg.com/04/i/001/20/86/9c5c_1_sbl.JPG http://clutchlevers.com/m600rrled.jpg |
I just ordered the ones on top. I saw some good reviews over on .net so I went ahead and ordered them. Should have them this week. I'll post up some pics and an overall opinion when I get them.

The reason the 1000RR mirrors are expensive is because they're DOT approved, super bright and carry the same OEM Fit/Finish that you expect from Honda.
Those cheap eBay mirrors are going to....... 1. - Clear plastic will sun-fade yellow. 2. - LED's are going to be barely visible during the day. 3. - Cheap black plastic housing is going to fade in the sun. 4. - LED's will most likely fail within a few months. 5. - The actual "mirror" itself will give you a distorted view. I've dealt with cheap eBay mirrors before. My good buddy Tony has his 08 Graffiti fall over in a parking lot. He first replaced the mirror with an identical "looking" one from eBay. The black plastic faded to a dull gray within a few weeks time. The mirror looked very low quality and would distort your rear viewing (didn't look nearly as good as OEM). And the LED turn signals that were built in were an absolute joke. The only time you could even see them was if it was getting close to dark and you were directly in front of the bike. Other than that........useless during the day. We have since replaced them with original OEM ones and couldn't be happier. A route I would go is get creative and order a couple of used OEM mirrors somewhere, and modify them using high quality LED strips from either Custom Dynamics or BrightLED's.com: http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_lights.htm http://www.superbrightleds.com |
mirrors
Can someone please tell me which ones are the "expensive 1000rr" ones? I looked and the price difference doesn't seem to be that big? Maybe I missed it?
Thanks in advance. |
^^ The new 2008-2009 1000RR's have integrated signals in their mirrors from the factory. They're expensive because it's $90 bucks for one mirror casing, $16 for the mirror itself. So over $100 bucks per mirror is a bit on the expensive side (you could get Rizoma's for that).
Not to mention they're very hard to come by. Every place I checked so far has them out of stock. |
I wouldnt buy the ebay ones. I got mine today and to make a long story short I'm going to the post office right now to ship them back. I'll give more details later.

Mirrors
Ya, watch out for the Lockhart Phillips turn signal integrated mirrors also, they do not look anything like what they do in the catalog... they are only about 6 inches long and have a sorry mount. I ordered a set in for a customer last summer and of course, after they were finally available they didn't want them.
Also, some aftermarket mirrors vibrate, in fact one on my old bike actually came off while riding. OEM's are the best way to go. At our shop we actually order quite a few of them. Before the CBR came out last year, we ordered the Yamaha ones and rigged them up. |

I think they look out of proportion to the rest of the bike. Here are the factory 08's on an 06.
