I bought this 2006 cbr600rr in rough shape. There is an odd bolt on the fairing that would not budge. I've been thinking about drilling it out but I don't know what it is bolted too. I've been looking at close ups of bikes and there is a thread with a 06 cbr600rr and their is no bolt on his mid fairing there. Anyone have advice? I want to change my oil and find an exhaust leak in a week or so.

 

I have an '06 CBR600RR (Repsol fairing too), i dont have any bolt in that spot.
Maybe PO put that to support a crack in the fairing? If u look behind, can u see it bolted to anything in the bike? I doubt there is anything behind that spot that a bolt can go thru

 

I'm gonna take off the lower and see if I can look up. Might need a set of stands.

 

You dont need any stands.
When i first bought my bike it was lowered (about 1.5") and i removed the lower cowl without a stand cause its two separate bottom pieces for left and right

 

I took off some other bolts and pealed the fairing back and it looks like it goes into where a slider would go into. is there any way i can drill the bolt out and then put a helicoil or something in it?
