I have never herd of an 8K miles oil change, Im gonna spend the extra cash on my investment on do it every 3K like i have always done with my bikes in the past.

I've read the owners manual and it does say every 8K. Every 3K is pretty much just wasting your money unless you track it. You should be using a synthetic oil and these oils do not break down nearly as fast as conventional. I'll change my oil at the end of every season and I put about 5K on in a season. Honestly you could go 8K with a synthetic oil and be fine if you ride on the street and don't always leave the motor at 12K. If you want to be more on the cautious side you can change it at 5-6k. Every 3K your pissing money away.

i have read statements directly from the oil companies that state that while synthetic oils can go a long time, 15k or more, without breaking down, the additives they put in them are pretty much useless and broken down by the 7500 mile mark.

while the manual does say that 8k is a good interval, i change my oil at around 4k with synthetic. i've always been of the thinking that "oil is cheap, motors are expensive."

i think im gonna stick with the 4K mile mark, its seems kinda inbetween where i want to be, and i do ride it pretty hard.

Thanks for the info guys, keep the input comming.

Nice. I know a couple people that have gone from the F4i to the RR and every single one of them loves the RR much better. The only compliant is that the F4i feels like it has more low end torque but other than that the RR is better in every way.

the only thing i miss on my f4i is that it was so evenly balanced, she stood up on one wheel and stayed there, the RR takes alot more skill and balance to keep it stood up. but I sure do love the **** out of my new RR, ( bought it with 1102 on the spedo) just broke in. ( lucky me )

Of all the things put in the owners manual this is not one of them. Im at 52,000 miles now and have never put a drop of synthetic in my f4i. I do change every 3000miles though.

This is true. The manual says to use GN4 which is a synthetic blend. By using a full synthetic the oil won't break down as fast and therefore you can go longer between changes. There is nothing wrong with going with a conventional oil, you will just have to change the oil more frequently.
