Use it to embarrass people. Like when the come up and say "Dude, your lights out.", just flip on the high beam, look up and shake your head like they're a retarded retard. I loved doing that when I went to the mall.

"Hey buddy your lights out." he shouts.
"You mean this one?" I reply, flipping on the highbeam
"........."
"Thanks anyway though."

And I would ride off laughing to myself, knowing I just made that dude that "just had to speak up" feel like a retard. LOL.

i don't think i've ever heard of anyone getting pulled over and ticketed for such a ridiculous charge. i also have my highbeams on 100% of the time (i don't like riding at night, so i don't) and have passed hundreds of cops and county sheriffs and they leave me alone every time. I'm not sure if that's just a Wisconsin thing or what, but i've got no problems with the police anywhere i've ever been.
Once I'm flashed by a cop, I'll turn off the highbeam (or if I'm following a car, and knowing that I'm beaming my light right into their face). But if you keep a short, philips screwdriver with you, you can adjust your headlights on the fly. If I'm going to be out crusing around with other bikes, I will either ride with just the low beam or adjust my high beam WAY down so it doesn't blind my fellow riders in the group.

isnt there a possibility of getting pulled over with the bright on though? absurd as it sounds
Yes... failure to dim or something like that. Justify it though safety and it shouldn't be a problem. I don't know if anyone has been pulled over for it on bikes. I think cops, for the most part, understand the need for a high beam all the time. I wouldn't turn it off even if I got a ticket. It's just not safe to operate without it. That low beam is weak and could easily be mistaken for a street light or something else. You can't mistake the high beam... especially when it moves around as you change lane position.

One of my friends got ticketed for it on his car, but I've never heard of it on bikes either. You never know, though.

Highbeam always on. I want all the visibility I can get. Cops even tell me to leave it on highbeam. I think their sick of scraping riders off the pavement. I've never been bothered by the police for doing this and if cagers don't like it tough poo poo.

3 weeks into owning my bike I got pulled over for riding with my highbeams on at night. It was definately my fault though for not adjusting the highbeam to shoot at a lower angle. I told the officer, I am trying to do everything possible to stay visible and he agreed but told me I need to adjust it then. He checked my endorsement and said please don't ride with them on until i had time to adjust them. No ticket. Just be polite and curtious. End of story.

No, you are a "self proclaimed" good rider. You've never taken the MSF course, therefore you don't know if you are a good rider or not. You could be making a lot of little mistakes here and there that could end up making one big mistake one day. Get your endorsement already! You should have had that before you got your bike.

Haha yeah I've had the same exact thing. Two guys standing by my bike and when I started it they say something like "oooh man, you got a light out" then you pull out the "Oh this one??"

Seems like it really puts the know it all/guy who wants to put you down, in their place.

Oh give it time. I must have had this happen 1 outta 4 times I rode when I first got my bike. Now the people know me in my small town so I don't get bothered that much anymoreafter correcting enough of them....lol
