Default Help The new rider!

I am Brand new to the forum. I have a 2006 RR with 17k miles and having issues with a few things.
Ok, I know that the first thing you might think is, Oil the chain Noob! But I think it's more then that.
I'm having issues keeping the chain tight. I'm aware of how to make the adjustments but they dont last long. (should I use Locktight on the nuts?)
Here is my other issue:
The owner I bought the bike from placed a Jardine RT-One Pipe on it. The bike rode fine for a while (3k miles) and now the Idle bounces 200 at Idle and 100 at any speed any gear.
The previous owner says (you might way to get a Power commander, that should fix it)

So, I can deal with the idle issue, But the chain will not stay tight (1/2 play) for more then 50 feet and makes alot of noise while in N, and speractically bogs the bike down (like its catching on something)

Is there a Possiblity that a Tooth has broken near the small sproket?

I hope someone has been through this and its a cheap fix. I am Beyond broke right now and it's my only form of transportation.

Thank you all for your help.

Ok, Checked out the small sprocket and it seems to be fine. Below is a video of what was going on. Since then I have cleaned the chain and going to re-lube it. I hope this helps a little. I read on the forums that a chain with no play can cause a whole list of issues. The Chain guard says 1/4 play, so I'm going to try to stay a little tighter then that. AS for the chain continuing to get lose, the only thing I can think of to keep the Bolt from screwing back is some locktight. Any other help in this is appreciated.

Yea, I caught the missed extra 1' in the post later... LOL, of course I watched the video... I made it. Wasn't sure what was going on. I'm hoping it will last a bit longer. Hopefully I can come up with an extra $80 for a decent chain. Thank you all for your help.
