Default help

Yes i have a problem,i just bought this bike with 360 miles on it,2006 cbr600rr,Mint mint showroom cond from a friend,he never rode it and decided to sell it.
Heres the problem, sometimes while riding it will sputter,if i throttle it,it totally cuts out,,,so i let off back to normal and it goes, but still goes in and out. I go as far as i can untill my speed drops to low,(it likes really high gear and very low rpms to not sputter, but will sputter in time) and i pull over shut the bike off wait a sec or two fire it up and fly at 140,100,70mph whatever, could be 60,50,20,2 miles down the road it does it again so i do it all over again ,turn it off and etc,,,,the gas wasnt really stinky but you could tell it was old! When i got it i think it was the 2 or 3rd tank ever in the bike and had 1 bar left on the gauge, filled with 91 and rode it,i have tryied the fi cleaner but didnt help, its only done it once on the street but many many times on the freeway. Make me just want to sell it! It for sure has a problem, I rode to work (63 miles) and i think i had to pull over 9 times to make it home errrr Thanks all

You don't need 93 octane. That is an epic topic beat to death in this forum. Have you checked your replies in the thread you started in GT? Have you checked anything yet? Have to give us some info and try, if you want our help bro.

Even after the bike warms up in the morning, it still runs good? What is the air temp in the afternoon when you drive home? Is the cooling fan on when it's running like crap? Have you checked the fuel filter yet? Check your air filter? Answer those Q's to start out with.

The only reason I asked about the air cleaner was I thought perhaps a rodent had clogged it up with debris or something. I wouldn't resort to the dealer just yet on a problem like this, remember for the most part the easiest answer is the right one! I'm unsure of your degree of knowledge in mechanical respects, but I would say you are totally capable of removing the tank and then some. Your filter(strainer) is inside the tank on the bottom of the fuel pump. In GT there is a sticky thread with a bunch of links to repair manual download sites. Find the manual for your bike and this will be an invaluable tool for you. Hopefully something jumps out at you with the strainer, I could be mistaken, but I believe there may be a strainer in the fuel shut-off valve as well. I would look at the fuel hoses leading from your tank to the injector rail and make sure they aren't collapsed or kinked. If you don't find anything then it may be on to testing fuel delivery pressure and flow after a ride on a hot day. I'm assuming there are no engine error codes flashing?
