What ever bike you get Madhadda, make sure you RESPECT the machine. A 250 can be just as dangerous as a 1000 if you dont. Definatley take the MSF courses. Wich I found to be a lot of fun and started me off just right.

i bought a GS500F in nov. 2005 i was worryed at first that it would be underpowered and that i would not want to keep it for very long . boy was i wrong ! i loved that bike .. do not dought a 500 .. go to your local track and watch someone thats good on a 500cc bike .. they will out run then 600cc bikes all day long .. (in the corners) but as soon as the strights come back then the 600 wins ..... but once you learn how to ride the bike then you will understand its not all about power .. get a bike you can learn on that will not take you out if you make a small mistake . then upgrade later . thats what i did . i had my bike almost 2 years .. i put 20,000 miles ( yes 20,000,20k ) on my bike in the first year that i had it ! start small go big

I started off on a cruiser. ( it was my dads) It was a 88 honda Shadow vtwin 800. Nice lookin bike but Not the greatest lookin in town. I really didnt care what it looked like. I wanted to get some experience before gettin my new F4i. I had several people look at it and laugh ( due to my age 23 and being on a cruiser rather than a sport bike.) A'll I would say is " I dont see you on a bike" " Why make fun of me" Sh@t heads!!!! IMO I wouldnt go jump on a brand new pretty bike for my bigginer. There are two types of people in the sportbike world. Those have laid down thier bikes and those that will eventually do it. I did it on my dads and learned from my mistakes before I got on a new bike. Repect your bike and it will respect you. Wear the proper gear, get a nice helmet, and dont act like your a pro out there. Take your time and be very alert to your suroundings ant the people in their cages because they dont watch for you.

+1 on respecting any bike you get.
+1 on the MSF course.

Slugger, aswell as othershas given great advice. The 600rr can be a first bike .. not necessarily a "good" one for some.

[sm=signs003.gif]I'd really try to stay away from the RR for a first bike but if thats what you want... Go for it. Just respect it and be carefull. The F4i is a little more user friendsly for beginners with the banana cusion seat and stuff though. I took a little road trip on the rr and then on the F4i and the F4i was much more comfy... Still has a a$$ load of power too. I kept up with my boy on his rr with no problems. If its looks, comfort, and all around fun and you wanna stick with a CBR... I'd strongly suggest the F4i.

my 1st street bike was and still is a 600rr. So you can get whatever you want just as long as you know how to ride and respect the power of the bike and you will be fine. get a zx14 j/k

My first bike was a Ninja 650R, and I had a blast on it! It had plenty of power, and it may have been a bit large for a first bike, but I started out slow and then worked my way up. I got my 07CBRa few months ago, and it is about 3 Ninja 650's. There is a quite a difference, but I love it. Good luck to you.
