Default Full coverage or Liabilty

Just wondering what most memebrs here carry. This is my first bike, no lien, and novice rider. Should i go with full coverage or liabilty?your opinions are greatly appreciated, and what insurance company issued your policy. Thanks.

well I had to go with liability only since my full coverage rate was insane. I just did progressive online. Is there a lot of theft in your area? or better yet, is it garaged and safe or out in the open?

Yes the bike will be garraged when I'm home. But I work during the night, so the bike will be in the parking lot all night. About motorcycle theft I'm not sure in my area. ( Northern Illinois)

FULL COVERAGE!!! especially on an RR. those things are hot and will get jacked within a few minutes. i would never leave my bike out at night anywhere. keeping it inside a secured garage is your only hope. and even then, it could be stolen in broad daylight. i would not get liability on a new bike that i spent 8000+ on.

check out comprehinsive, its a gamble but most things are covered under comprehinsive. 35$ a month verses full coverage 2400$ a year. my ride just got stolen a week or 2 ago. and comprehinsive covers it.

Comprehensive covers the theft. You dont have to have full coverage for theft protection. The only difference between the two is collision, and thats whats expensive. It is cheaper for me t buy a new bike than for insurance for a year. So I would say check it out, and go from there.

+2 for comp. It's usually a third (or less) of full coverage, and it covers theft, vandalism, fires, and custom parts (atleast through progressive.) The way I look at it, if I drop the bike, the amount my insurance will go up in addition to the deductable will exceed the cost to fix almost any bike damage. And if the bike damage is that extreme, I really won't be worried about my bike all that much.

I just switched to full coverage with statefarm after reading some other post. I was paying $200 a year for liabillity with some company no one has ever heard of and who knows if they would have paid or what they covered. Now for full coverage with a reputible insurance company I pay $35 a month. I had to switch my car over to them as well to get a better discount but it was about the same anyway and now I have peace of mind. Oh by the way, I am 25 and single with no points on my record.
