Default First gear top speed?

Hey,well if you read my other thread,i have an 04 cbr600rr. I had a quick question,i noticed the first gear is way longer then most other bikes. Obviously i cant test it out as im fixing my bike and sworn not to go above speed limit,lol(10 points!) So could anyone tell me, what the first gear goes up to? Thanks.

haha,i didnt really thinnk a question liek this needed a poll! lol. It isnt top speed that people like to stretch the truth about. The manual in most stick cars say where the gear tops out, but it doesnt for my cbr. I just waanted to know to seettle something me and my friends where talking about.

I would guess around 60-65 in first. I doubt you were doing 80 in first gear. A zx-10 will do 101 in 1st but it has a race spec tranny with an extra tall 1st gear for obvious reasons, yours does not have this. Not likely 80, even if your speedo says 80, your more like 72 or so. I dont own one, just a guess.

hmm, then i prabably need to get my speedo checked? i mean im almost POSITIVE i was going 80 and still had more revs. Also at the track you can see when any 600 runs against a cbr, the cbr always shifts sooo much later then the other bike, like atleast a full 1\2 to 1 second later. dunno. wierd.

You have got to have some majorly non stock sprockets if you are doing 80 in first. I'd say you are doin about 65 in first with stock setups.

My F4i does 65 in first at the redline.

Oh and the manual says suggested shifting speeds. Not the top speeds. Dont quote me on that but im pretty sure thats what it says. I havent looked at the manual in forever

I've noticed 70+ when I hit the rev limiter. Not a good time to be focused on the gauges so I never really look too long. I’ll try to pay more attention next time.
