Default First Big Bike...HELP

I just stepped up from a cbr250 to a cbr 03 600rr. I bought the bike off someone who didnt seem to care much more than how shiny the fairings were. I have been told all I need to do is do an oil and filter change, shake off the air filter and she'l be good to go. However someone else who took it for a spin said the foil oil needs to be changed. The bike was never raced(i think) and only done 11000km. Any suggestions as to what I need to do be sure i dont get any problems down the road.

oops, i meant to say fork oil. The steering is a bit unresponsive, I'd put it to suspension adjustment but is there a possibility the fork oil (NOT FOIL OIL) could be old.

There is too much 'play' in the front forks, its too loose, therefore tranferring your movements to the road takes a bit longer(so ive been told). Ive just stepped up from a 250 so im not too sure myself but ive been told i should get it fixed by changing the fork oil and it'll handle alot better. I also went to honda and they said you'l have to re-build the forks (because of how they're designed) to get the oil out and that could get costly.

Loose? Are you talking that the suspension is loose, or the steering is loose? I'm kind of confused here.

Is the front suspension too soft? Is it severely diving under braking?

It's a heavier bike than your previous one, so it's going to take a tad more muscle to throw it into the corners (which is why you might think you have a problem with transferring your movements).

Honestly, I don't think the other dude knew what he was talking about.........unless he secretly "knew" the forks were leaking or the seals were broken).

I say push on the handle bars as if trying to compress the front suspension. Do you hear anything? (gurgling or bubbling?) And how easy is it to push down? And does it come back up to normal quickly or does it lag?

fork oil should be changed very 10K or yearly...depending on how much you ride...you figure if it's an 03 bike...it's long overdue....

you'll know by the way it smells...open her up and smell the stench...old fork oil smells like fish oil.
