I have read that it is a good idea to vary the rpms during a break in period, and Kawasaki still uses specific guidelines for break-in procedures on their new units(not sure about varying the rpm), so he may not be completely full of crap. On the other hand, Honda states nothing about varying rpms in their manuals. Outside of this info, there should be no reason to worry about having to vary the rpms under any other circumstances.

What are you guys talking about, I wore out the "powerband" in my bike and had to have it replaced with a graphite/carbon fiber composite. But then I also had to add a can of compression, was low on blinker fluid and had to repack my muffler bearing...J/K LOL
As for the break in, I've had very conservitive friends break in their bikes just like the manual says, but I also had a friend who redlined the **** out of an 06 636 from the day he rode it out the dealership door with no ill side effects whatsoever.

You got scammed. Everyone knows the composite ones only add like 2 Hp AT BEST with the wind to your back on a cloudy day.
