Cutting the bolts...

I know this is in the wrong spot, but you guys are who I talk to all the time, so here goes it. I have a friend with a 954 with a devil high mount slip on. He says that the devil is the highest mount for the slip ons, which is what he likes. He dislikes the can, but wants to keep the position. I suggested to him to have the can chopped off and replaced with a new one that suites his liking, and just keep the down-pipe so that the new can will mount at the same height. He said that he though about that, and thought that it would mess with the valves? He isn't that mechanically savvy, and what I think he means is that it will screw with the back-pressure. I said that the can was just a baffle, and since it was a slip on anyways, and the cat is still there, it shouldn't change it enough to really matter. I told him I would double check around here just to make sure before we start cutting things up. Anyone have any feedback on this, think its possible, or have a good alternative? Thanks in advance.

RE: Cutting the bolts...

So he is wanting to keep the midpipe of the Devil, but use the can from another company????

If so it will be fine. It would just be like putting that exhaust on it. Midpipe is for position. It'll be fine.

RE: Cutting the bolts...

I was hoping one of you moderators would confirm this. Im not sure how true this is, but he says that the other high mounts arent high enough... As long as it will run right. Thanks D2..

PS - have my cbr vinyl shipped?

RE: Cutting the bolts...

Yea, some are positioned different, but for me, it wouldnt be enough to go through all that work. The bikes are fuel injected, so if there is a small ration problem, they have the ability to adjust themselves (within reason). But something like that shouldnt effect it any different that putting on the setup with the can he likes. No different than cutting down the cans on the F4i or RR's.

PS Response. Yea, they were shipped last week. :)
