Exclamation Contemplating buying a 49 state bike and I live in California; input please.

Hello I recently found a great deal on a 2007 CBR 600RR that is a 49 state bike, however the problem is that the mileage ( roughly 5000 Miles) is too low to transfer it to California because our DMV states that a 49 state motorcycle must have 7500 miles in order to be registered.

Should I buy it anyways and just ride it until it hits 7500 and then take it to DMV?

Should I just take a drill to the speedo until it hits 7500?

Or can you suggest another method/ should I not buy the bike and just keep looking?

Thanks for the input in advance.

Edit/Add:

here is the ad
"For sale: 2007 Honda CBR 600rr
Color: Red and Black
Miles: Approx 4400
Price: $5500
Title: Clean title

Bike info: Bought it brand new at BVH Reno in 2008. Never tracked, never dropped, never stunted, and always garaged kept. The bike will come mainly stock for the exception of; WATSEN flushmounts, Shogun no-cut frame sliders and spools, Genuine Honda Carbon fiber Kit, and Honda OEM seat cowl. The pictures shown here were when I had aftermarket exhausts and FE. THEY WILL NOT COME WITH THE BIKE!! Since I sold these parts separately."

Do you not have emission control laws in California that would cost you a lot to install all the "bits"on a 49 State bike ?

Unless you know the selling party, i would stay away from buying expensive items across state lines and over the internet. To much risk to you involved. With that said, if you do get it get the title in hand or no deal. Find someone in another state, another member perhaps, and register it in your name at their address until it has 7500 miles on it. Then transfer it to cali. It has an electronic speedo, do even waste time taking it apart. The other option is buying or borrowing another cluster with more than 7500 on it, and switching it back. You just cant sell it until you reach the borrowed mileage.

i almost bought that bike from that dude, the paperwork was too much of a pain in the rear end, he has a loan thru his bank in washington. so its not like u guys can go down to the bank together and get the title. there was too much trust needed for that transaction for me. but it u do buy it just ride the **** out of it until it hits 7500 miles , or just purchase an spedo from emay with the milage that ur willing to brand the title with.
I would up buying mine out of oregon with 1102 miles on her, its a 2007 and i paid 4950 and a new battery for her. so worth the 800 mile round trip to go get it!
im super pumped on my new purchase, but the one in reno was too much trust in a CL deal if u ask me.
and if u do do it, pay that guy in a ceterfied check in the name of his bank , NOT HIM, just cross ut t's and dot ur i's on that transaction.
shop for a bike where it rains a ton and there will be less miles!
peace

Lol yeah JZ, luckily I called before leaving CA to see if he had the title in hand, and after finding out that the bank had the title I didn't even pursue it, however I did buy a clean title 2008 Honda CBR 600 RR with only 7k miles on it for the low price of 4800$ cash! I bought a new Michilin power pilot CT 2 rear tire for it and change the oil and brake fluid as well and now I just bought some aftermarket parts for it; Two brothers slip on exhaust, 10k HID's, Trpage's Integrated taillight, and flush mount turn signals for starters. =)
