sup guys im new here.. id like to get some help and info, for some reasons i cant shift my bike to 6th gear.. what could be the problem? is this something i should get it fix right away

This is going to sound dumb, but you're shifting 1 down 5 up right?

 

yes im shift down 1 then 5 up why?

 

This this was to make sure you weren't starting in 2nd and thinking you werent hitting 6th..

Is the gearbox locked? What happens when you try to shift into 6th? Is there any play in the shift linkage?

 

if you shift down into first then you pull up five times that would put you in six gear

 

If you can't shift into 6th gear I would take it in and let them fix it.

 

you probably have a bent shift fork

 

you should take the motorcycle safety course! they will teach you a lot

 

i don't think not having the skill or knowledge of shifting to 6th is the problem, what exactly happens when you try to shift into sixth? is it like shifting into a wall or is there a slipping or grinding noise? anything?
