Default Can i go on a highway during break in period?

Pretty self explanatory question really. I know the manual says no, but many racers seem to think that pushing the bike hard immediately is the best way of breaking it in and achieving a maxium piston seal. Any thoughts? Thanks

Also I think the biggest thing is not keeping your rpm steady for long periods of time. Use your gears to change your rpm up and down when on the highway.[sm=oopssign.gif] FIXED

The link works, you just have to delete the period at the end (ie don't include it).

I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine and they were saying since the newer bikes are fuel injected you dont actually need to do a "break in" they are ready to open up right off the lot. One person i met at the honda dealership told me he got his the other day and the first thing he did when he got on it was jump on the freeway and open it up. His explanation was, and i quote: "If you want a ***** motor in the end, ride it like a *****, if you want a top performance motor, ride it like you mean it."

Maybe he's full of crap but so far two people have told me the break in doesnt matter on brand new fuel injected bikes. What do you guys think?

i completely agree. the first bike i bought, i went straight to an open back road and WOT !!!!

try not to keep the RPMS consistent and often switch gears
