Buying a used 08 cbr600rr
 

I am currently looking at a 2008 cbr600rr and i was wondering what things i should look out for and how i could spot the problems. I also what to know if it is a good deal, it has 21k miles on it, it has new pilot power tires on it the other upgrades include a fender eliminator with flushmount integrated taillight, black windshield, flushmount turn signals, Jardine RT-1 carbine fiber exhaust, seat cowl, K&N high flow air filter and new chain and sprockets installed last season. The seller is selling it for $4200, is that a good price?

That price doesnt sound bad but.............Offer $3200, what the hell, why not. If he wont take it, maybe go up a couple hundred. Its a buyers market, with the economy and all. Look closely at the shifter, rear brake pedel, and foot pegs. If they're scratched and/or bent, that would let you know its been horizontal/laid down. Listen to what and how he says, that would give you an indication how hard he ran it. And if he took care of it, maintenance and all. It is 8yrs old with 21k miles, I would think you could get something with less miles for the same price Or something with as many miles for less $.

Essentially, you're looking for signs of abuse.

So look for rash on the swingarm, engine casings, etc. Check the radiator for bends or dents.

While straddling the bike, load the forks a few times and check for leaking seals.

Look for oil leaks, check oil for correct oil level.

Make sure the bike isn't warmed up already when you go to see it. Watch it go through the whole heating cooking cycle.

Make sure everything works, listen for strange odd engine noises, etc.
