6k miles is literally mint. $4500 is a fair price imo. My 06 600RR has only 1338 miles and I plan on getting darn near close to 6 grand for it.

Default Advice re modded CBR600rr missing pillion indicators etc

Hi all, Brand new to this forum so I know this should be a new post but can't seem to be able to create my own posts yet. This looked like a relevant (although old) thread to use....I wondered if anyone could help / advise me re:I've put deposit down on a private sale of 2006 CBR600rrMechanically seems fine, but the additional said nothing about it being modded out and altered for track. It had exhaust upgraded and baffle removed, ALL pillion bits removed, even cowl changed. Plus all indicators removed and LEDs put into rear light/ mirror stalks.
It's now failed MOT and I'm wondering whether I should walk away? It's real nice tho and I've bought it in my head now, plus it really really close
The seller has no parts at all and only wants to get bike thru MOT as cheaply as possible.
Is the work to return indicators /silencer etc to stock/ original (at very least legal) Typically a mare? likely to be an expensive mare?
Any help greatly appreciated

A lot depends on how the work was done in the first place.

If it was a botch job, then yes it could turn out to be a bit of a nightmare getting it right again. You have not personally done the work, so unless you have experience of automotive electrics, trying to figure out a previous owners botch job can take a lot of time.

What has it actually failed it's MOT on? If it's a simple fix the current owner should be happy to sort it out, a bike with a current MOT is far easier to sell than one that's just failed.

Finally, sourcing the parts to return a bike to stock can be both time consuming and expensive. Do some sums, unless it's super cheap, it's often better to buy the bike you want to end up with, rather than making a bike into the one you want.

Default Total 600RR newbie

Hi guys

I thought this post looked to be on topic rather than starting a new one. After 11 years of riding I have sold off my SV650S and CBR125 and am thinking of getting a supersports bike and really like the proposition of the 600RR. Can anyone recommend any good buyers guides? I have looked and wondered if I should base my search on bikes under 20,000 miles - but I'm not sure if that is really necessary? Is there anything really key to look out for on these bikes beyond evidence of maintenance?

Any advice gratefully received.

Best wishes

David

Hi David, you will get a much better response if you post your question in the relevant section.
