Break-in
I've heard and read alot of different things about break-in... Dont go over 6k rpm, ride it like you plan to... etc. Not trying to start a debate or anything.
The manual says to avoid hard acceleration for 300 miles. Thats it. At least what I could find. No rpm limitation etc.... I found this interesting...
Anyway my main question is this... It says to do initial service at 600 miles or 1 Month. My MSF course isnt until July so I will be lucky to get 100 miles in a month. Should I really have it serviced at 1 Month or can I wait until I hit the 600 mile mark. The 600 mile mark makes more sense to me.

everybody has there own opinion on break-in procedure. most new car manuals tell you to break the motor in as so- for the first 500 miles, no full throttle starts, don't run at any one rpm(make sure to use the whole rev range and don't stay in any one range for a long period on time). other than that i would say, just ride it like your gonna ride it and like it should be ridden(hard). good luck.

Kudos on taking the MSF course, you're well on your way to being a responsible rider.
Now realize, when breaking in a new bike you're not just breaking in the engine, but the suspension, seals, tires, chain, everything. Just vary your engine RPMs and don't go full throttle for 300 miles, then get the 600 mile service and all will be well.

Well, its not that I dont want to put some miles on the bike, its just that I only have a permit. My friend is a cop and he says to be careful in this area. They will pull over crotch-rockets with new tags just to see if they have a license. If not, it is impounded no questions asked. I have some friends that ride, but they dont live that close. They may come out this weekend so I can get some miles under my belt.
Yep thats the plan... but its a month away and thats why I was asking about the 600 mile service. Honda says 600 miles or 1 month, and I wont be putting many miles on until I'm legal. (which is about a month out)
