From Gixxer site
"The wristbands were initially used on racebikes to absorb any brake fluid overflow or seepage during racing, not to block the sun. Nobody really uses them anymore, some do for looks and it isn't a bad idea, but the sun doesn't break down brake fluid."Makes sense to me.

I have it coveredI did it for looks mostly but you never know how hard your gonna run the bike and hit bumps on the road leading to leakeage. I have a lime green ninja turtle wristband on mine. It has raphael face on it with his red scarf around his eyes. I think this is a great accent for my bike and adds a special touch since my bike is red and black.

....ummm...you are all wrong....brake fluid works better after it warms up a little bit, so the wrist band helps keep the fluid res at a warm stable temp....[:@]

The fluid in the reservoir is NOT going to be in the caliper unless you have a serious problem and it's needed. therefore the temp of the fluid up there has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the brakes.

RE: Brake Fluid Resivoir
a wristband only provides half the function of what res socks actually do.
they are flame retardant, and they absorb small leaks from fluid sloshing around, and somehow getting past any seal's.
a wristband is not flame retardant, but the fluid will still get everywhere when the res smacks the ground and shatter's....so flame retardant is only a actual function on race car's.
i never understood how a "flame retardant" res sock will retard flame when its soaked with brake fluid?
