Anyone have a DIY on how to change the front and the back brake pads on an 06. I have changed the pads on my old VW once, pita but I did it. Should I do it on the bike? If so, any tips?

 

it's a pretty easy, just get u some elbow grease and a few tools and dig in. Just make sure u bleed the air out when u get it back together.

 

please elaborate on the bleeding process if you don't mind?

 

If you are just changing pads you don't need to bleed the system. Just torque the caliper bolts to whatever the manual reccomends.

 

yeah no bleeding required, just be sure to pump the front lever and rear brake pedal before you go out for a ride

the DIY for front- remove bolts holding caliper on, use screwdriver to pry the pads apart, pull them out and replace, reinstall and pump brakes to bring back lever feel

rear - only added steps are remove rear wheel and then reinstall it - there are step by step vids of this on youtube

also, when your caliper is loose do not let it just hang by the brake line, put something under it to hold it up

 

done...took a whopping 20 minutes....easy....you would be a fool to pay someone to change them...thanks for the advice guys

 

Must've had a front stand and done just the fronts...first timer only 20 mins? Great job!!!

 

Did do the front calipers online, no stand, just *kick* stand...one at a time...simple.

 

You don't need a stand to change pads, literally all it takes is an allen key and whatever size socket the caliper bolts are.

 

when you say just front stand i hope you mean kick stand and not a literal front stand only
