Default About to order Vortex Sliders, Shorty or regular?

I want some sliders on my bike before I take it out for the start of the riding season, and word around here is that vortex is the way to go. I'm about to order them and I noticed they've got "shorti" 1 and 1/4 inch sliders. I'd appreciate some input on this.

Supposedly the shorties make the bike less suceptible to the sliders catching something on the road and flipping. Since there made to save the frame anyways the shorties will possibly cause more damage to your fairings then the regular size.

The shorties are pretty much for race guys that had issues dragging the sliders at large lean angle becuase the std length were too long. If you're using your bike on the street either one will work fine - becuase if it going to flip, it's going to flip - your pegs, bars, tail or wheels are way more likely to chatch on something than sliders are.

It actually not uncommon on the 600RR becuase the slider mount really low compared to just about every other bike out there (at least a good 6-8" lower than the sliders on my 748, which are about the same height as a GSXR & ZX). Usually it happens under trail braking comming into a corner, espicially with a stock front suspension, but I've even dragged the short sliders in really fast corners....

Here a pic from a couple years ago at a pratice session. Slider are the euro racing / yoyodyne which stick out the same as the vortex shorties. This was the week before I had my suspension done (I was bottoming out everywhere and had teh ride hight too low too). If you look close at the right side slider you can see I've ground it at an angle.

What does it feel like to bottom the front end in a corner like that? Only thing I have to compare is a front endpush on entry.

Not good... When you bottom while leaned over, at speed it feels a bit like this.

If you're straight up, the front just gets real hard and transmits every little bump right up to you.

He's back on turn 8, I'm crashing in turn 12 or 13. It's Mid America Motorplex... Flat as a pancake, no tree's, nothing...just grass and track. You can stand in pit lane and see Turn 1-2-3 which is completely on the other side of the track.

I honestly never thought sliders catching before I read this thread, but I guess it doesn't matter as I'm not a knee dragger by any means.
