Default 2997 RR Engine question

Tried bikebarn.com to compare part #'s, but the 07 is to new for any information.. I've heard the 07's dyno @ 120 HP and the torque curve is matched with the transmission so that each shift at the end of the torque curve begins with a shift into the beginning of the torque curve.

That being said I am trying to figure out what they changed on the 07 to give it the extra power.

Does it use the same block with a different cam and shaved down heads for higher compression?
Is it a new small block altogether? Is the bore/stroke the same as previous years??.What about the TB and injectors??..I'd like to find out the differences and maybe this winter I'll be tearing my F4I down and doing a rebuild..
Anyone with some insight or links for engine specifications on the 07 RR let me know. Thanks

120hp is crank HP. many dyno centers are reporting numbers close is just a touch more to the 2006 year model.

Thanks for the link, but not exactly what I'm looking for..

What that tells me (from the specifications gathered from the link you provided)is
in 2005 the compression is 12.0:1 and bore xstroke is 67 x 42.5 mm
and in 2007 the compression is 12.2:1 and the bore x stroke is 67 x 42.5 mm

It also tell me the 2007 has a DOHC design with 16 valves, but so does the 2005
The 05 has 38mm throttle bodies. I'm not sure about the 07...

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if my 05 F4I and the 07 use the same small block and TB/injectors.. The link you provided says the engine lost 3.7 lbs. Lighter internals obviously have less rotating mass which equals more HP, but not 20+ HP from 3.7 lbs....
I'm curious if all they did was shave the heads down (less clearance between the valves and piston) and give the engine amore aggressive cam with maybe slightly larger throttle bodies, or same throttle bodies with a reflashed ECM...
If that's the case I could do the same to my 05 for relatively cheap this winter.. Shaving the heads would cost next to nothing if I can do it without smashing the valves, since I know alot of guys who work at the machince shop and we give them alot of business...

This is just a guesstimate, but
Aggressive cam= 200-300 each
shaving the head and 5 angle valve job=$50 to the guys at the machine shop on the side (they would do the work when they have nothing else going on)
Gasket kit and head bolts= guesstimate @ around $100 from Honda.

To me $600-800 seems like a hell of a price for 20 HP if this is possible...Now if the 07 has different sized throttle bodies/injectors then 20 HP probably isn't feasible by doing the above.
(Of course this wouldn't factor in the price of a power commander, less restrictive exhaustor dyno tuning..)

Yes, I could probably sell my bike and spend $2000 more than the cost to rebuild my engine and buy an 07, but I think there is something to be said about doing the work yourself as compared to buying and leaving a bike factoy...Plus I'd save about $2,000..my .02

Really??? I didn't see that part...I guess I assumed a 20 HP gain.

A '07 rr does not have 20 more hp than your '05 f4i. Maybe a couple hp but thats about it.
