2009 CBR600RR has no power
 

I have a friend that asked me to help look at this bike. I think I may have a solution but little stummped.

So its a 2009 CBR 600RR.

Basically the first symptoms was that the bike would crank but no start. So another one of his friends told him to change the starter relay(no idea why you would do that since the engine is cranking)

But when he went to do that something touched the battery and arched which caused the new problem.

No power to the bike whats so ever. The battery is reading 12.5v so I know its good. The bike dash is not turning on, no headlights, blinkers. Absolutely nothing. Except the clock works but that's on a different circuit.

Here's my thought, I think the arc caused either the ignition switch/relay to short out, or it shorted out the ECU. What do you guys think. Any suggestions?

Check the main fuse.

Sorry, forgot that I checked all the fuses in the fuse box next to the battery already. there all good.

The main fuse is usually not in the fuse box.

I believe the main fuse is the one that connects to the battery.

Yup, going front to back on a 600rr, it's right behind the battery. It'll have a cover on it.

aye. seperate box, rubber around it. have to prop it open. I am going to say probabkly 95% your problem. You prolly just dodged the bullet.

What fuse behind the battery?

I checked all the fuses in the fuse box right behind the battery.

You guys said there is a rubber cover on it. Are you talking about the thing behind the fuse box that is slightly round?

To the right of the battery where the guys hand is, is the fuse box that we checked. No blown fuses. To the right of the fuse box is what I think you guys are talking about with the rubber cover that has a round dome on top of it. Is that what you guys are telling me to check?

Bear with me on the exact location, I don't have a 600rr and can't seem to download a manual at the moment. Follow the positive cable from the battery to the fuse box. The fuse will be inline. On my 929 and other models, it's under a little red cover, like this one...

There may also be a fuse inside the starter relay.

Oh see I thought that was the starter relay. At least form what my friend was telling me.
They replaced that with a whole new relay and fuse.
So that's not our issue.

So since that isnt is, what else could it be?
