so my friend and i bought 2009 cbr600's from the same dealer. one in red and one black. he scratched up the front of his and brought it to be fixed. the dealer, when trying to order parts, indicating to him that it was a california model. the california model is apprently a bit more restricted for emissions purposes... and subsequently, slower.

How can i tell if mine is also a california model without bringing it to a dealer? anything in the VIN? anything anywhere?

anybody know exactly how the california model is different?

Not sure if this helps or not but the California version is cbr600RRL9. The Cali version has the letter L in it, nothing in vin. Maybe one of you got the rr and the other the rrl? Can't find specs to relate it though, sorry. Hope this helps?
