2004 cbr 600rr oil change

Default 2004 cbr 600rr oil change

Im a noob with these bikes as im mostly comming from supermotos with no fairings. whats the best way to change the oil in my 04. can i do it with the fairings on? any tips? or how-to's?

eh, less of a mess to do it with the fairings off.... remove both lowers and remove the right mid fairing, then I usually take the bolt out of the coolent overflow reservoir to make it easier getting to the oil filter (05 600RR)

it is messy either way. I usee aluminum foil as a funnel to avoid oil getting oil on the headers. If you can get the foil and everything else you need with the fairings on, keep them there.

+1 but there is a great right up on 600rr.net on how to do it with the fairings on.

its a pain lol u have to take the lower fairing and middle fairing off and the oil filter is a small fit through the bottom of the header

how much oil do i need when changing oil? can i use the regular 10W40 automobile oil?

NO! Use motorcycle oil! use the search feature.

Automotive oil has moly in it which eats up motorcycle seals. I use to take off my bottom and right side fairing, and you can either take out the filter past the coolant tank or drop it through the headers with most aftermarket headers.

bike should take 2.7 quarts just did my first one last week.real easy
