Default 1st bike, 1st ride

I bought my bike 4-5 days ago, and rode it for the first time yesterday. I have never ridden a street bike before in my life until yesterday. The bike is an 07 CBR600RR, brand new. The day started with me loading it up in my truck to take down to the DMV for a license. I walked in, without looking at the book first, and took the test. Whew I passed. Me and a couple of friends (GSXR 600, Ninja 500) rode about 15 miles to meet the wives for lunch. A few more miles to the local cycle shop and mall for some scorpion gloves, doc martin boots, and frame sliders. Riding so far has been a little bit of highway and a lot of city riding (red lights, etc..) I was a bit nervous about riding this as my first bike because I read a lot of forums where people say it is a mistake to get a CBR600RR as a beginner bike, especially for someone like me. I only weigh 130 lbs. After this we rode for quite a bit of the day, played an hour of pool at Fast Eddy's, and hit bike night (which was mostly harley's and the "other" types of bikes).

In total I put 103 miles on my bike on the first day of riding, burned almost 1/2 a tank of gas, and a bunch of smiles. I'd say to those that hesitate to start on the 600RR, go ahead, as long as you know at least the basic physics of riding a motorcycle (dirtbike background or whatever). It was a very fun day.

Oh and to cover the questions about to come:
No I did not pop any wheelies, even under pretty intense acceleration the front end never came up.
No I didn't break the speed limit, most of the time (100 mph top speed but only for a few seconds out of the city)
My MSF course is scheduled for April 23 and 24, and I understand that I am a horrible person for riding before completing it.
Yes I wore helmet, jacket, boots, gloves, and reflective band.
Yes I understand there's lots of stuff I don't know yet.

I hope this will inspire new riders that are on the edge to go ahead with the 600RR, it's easy to keep it at low RPM's and safe while learning.

All it says in the manual for break in period is no full throttle acceleration for the first 300 miles, so the bike should be ok.

That put a smile on my face. I bought mine while I was in Iraq and when I came home I still had to wait another 3 weeks to get it. When I say get it I took a road trip with the wife and new born from el paso to Detroit. I picked it up at my cousins house and it sat in the trailer till I got back to El paso! The first ride is the best!

Congrats man... She isnt a hard bike to harness if you have wrist control, just be careful over 10k, that when it kicks on you.
