04 600RR Brake light always on?

Hey guys,
So I totalled my '99 F4, insurance gave me more money than I paid. so i added a few bucks and got a 2004 600RR. Works great and i have been making some changes, will post picutres later. but my problem is the brake light. the license plate tree has been removed prior to my ownership, fine with me. but the brake light will not go on when applying brakes. to me it seems like it is always on, as it is very bright. so bright i can see red behind me at night easily in the mirrors. I have read a few posts about a dimmer switch? is that for '04s? and where? or is there any other troubleshooting methods i could try? Thanks

on a side note, anyone know how to change the ID tag?

I'd check the wiring diagram in the service manual, its either wrong wire connected (running light to brake) or front/rear brake light switch is defective. Or if u have a fender eliminator, the PO somehow wired the license plate light to the tail brake light instead of the running. I'd personally prefer my tail/brake to be as bright as possible to be seen in sunny days clearly.
As for the switch from an F4 to an RR, you'll miss the F4 guaranteed! As much as the RR feel more sporty, nimble and lighter-ish, i could ride the F4 all day and RR riding position isnt as comfortable, i mias my F4 :D
