02-05 Problems
 

Next season I am going to be in the market for a 02-05 600RR. Other than the normal thing to look for, are there any specific things I should looking for or aware of? I am only looking to spend around 5k for a good used bike. The dealership on the other side of town had a few in that price range. Any advise is good advise.

I got a friend looking to purchase one as well. I haven't been able to find anything out anywhere on the net though, so am I to beleive these are just bullet proof or what?

CCT? R/R? Anything?

That is what I am wondering as well.

The cbr600rr started coming out in 03 and they are very dependable bikes. There is very little difference from 03 to 06 and the engine is the same for those year models. The 03 and 04 were the first and then the 05 and 06 changed a little on the forks rear tail trunk key and front nose air intake. I've owned gsxr,s kawis and yamahas and to me I love the hondas performace alot better. I've seen some killer deals on ebay for under 4k on 03 and 04 models. Johnnyh

I bought an 05 last august and spent 5K, the bike had higher miles than I was looking for but was in imaculate condition and had some bolt on's that sweetened the deal. So far I have had no issues with the bike at all. It currently has 13,xxx miles. The only thing I can think of is that the fuel gauge doesn't work and the right turn signal indicator doesn't either. Both may be easy fixes, I just haven't looked into it. All in all they are great bikes and I haven't met a person who hasn't loved their 600RR. Good luck

Try to get an 05-06 bike if you can, they have the upgraded inverted forks. As far as issues, I haven't really heard of any on these bikes.

I got mine for around $5k with only 1800 miles (yes it was a steal).

I bought my 06 about 2 months ago for 4300. Look around you can find some sweet deals on craigslist.

I found an 06 600rr for 3,800 with only 3,200 miles on it. If this guy buys my bike tonight im buying the rr tomorrow morning. I was thinking it was spam, but its at a dealership!

On some of the 03-04's there were issues with the voltage regulators. Mine personally would have trouble starting while at higher than normal temps...for example, if i was riding on a hot day in alabama, pulled in to get gas, then went to restart, it would act if the battery was almost drained. Never did it while cold, and i could push-start it just fine and not have an issue with it the rest of the day. Never really got it figured out...

Alot of people replaced the cam-chain tensioners (CCT) as well due to rattling---however, since i've been on this forum i have not heard one single story of an actual cam-chain failing or becoming so loose that it caused issues.

Good luck---i put over 20,000 miles on my 03, laid it down a few times while stunting, and the thing was bulletproof. A plethora of parts are available on ebay as well, much cheaper than from the dealer. You cant really go wrong with a CBR!!! :)

I know you were looking at the 05-06, but there is a good deal on a new 08 up here.I don't know where you live, but there is a brand new 2008 for 8K here in Marysville, WA. I was looking at it, but decided I didn't want silver. You can see it on cyclebarn.com
