Default wheelie and motor oil.

shout out to all you cbr lovers.ok please bare with me,not sure where to go look so i thought i would ask.im looking into buying a 2000 cbr f4 it has a little over 9300 miles and so scratches no biggie well it was laid down and it needs 2 turn signal and maybe a paint job.they are asking $4000 ok now i called a friend that is familiar with the cbr's he said something aobut when you wheelie them the oil goes to the back of the motor wich makes the motor starving for oil. he said this is the problem with the older bikes and look into a 03 and newer.can someone help me out here,im not looking to spend alot of money on a bike because i have a 06 1200custom sportster but i love crotch rockets and want one.and yes i will try wheelies one day.it sounds like the price is pretty reasonable form what you guys say..thanks alot.

I have had no problems with mine and I am always on one wheel. No problems so far, bought it with 9,000 miles and have just over 18,000.

hey ride thanks for the fast reply.and by the way nice bike i did see yours up for sale, think it was cycletrader.
anyways well thats one good thing.ok another question i know its hard to say without seeing the bike, but like i said it has scratches on both sides a little over 9300 miles its a 2000 and it needs a trun signal in the back and one in front well actually two in the front but right now the one in front is taped on.so do you think it would be worth 4000 they are firm on the price.he said if they fix the body kit then the price will go up.your opinion please.

On a stock bike like this one and with the damage I would offer him $3500. If you need to fix all that stuff I would pass on 4000. You said it has scratches on both sides and those plastics are not cheap. Thanks about my bike, I am going to lower the price to $5,000 obo and hopefully it will sell I am looking at getting a 2001 cbr 929. Hey just remember you can shoot me an offer on my bike...lol worth a try. Good luck anything else let me know

i guess it depends on your location, but i paid 3700 for mine last year.but luckily my seller wasn't firm on the price. have you checked out the blue book values to see what it's worth? it'll give you an idea of what to pay. imo i think 4000 is to much being it has some scratches and needs new signals

the oil pick-up is in the rear of the pan so no worries.

Thats what I thought but I wasnt sure, thats why all the stunters usually go for the F4i's because of the pick-up in the rear.

I bought my f4 in July of 06'. It had 13,000 miles on it and was flawless. It had been well taken care of and everything. I paid $3500. I'd look around before I gave him $4000 for that bike.

ok so now i know that the motor will be fine, now what about milage.if it has around 20,000 is that ok,i know on some of the bikes i looked at had alot of miles.so with alot of miles does this mean you have to take the tear the motor down and start adjusting things.this was something else i was told to watch for.

It is good to get the valves checked at about 15-20,000 miles. Just to make sure they are good to go. Miles dont mean anything for a honda, unless the bike was extremely beat on. Remember Hondas are known to last a long time. I know of some people that have over 65,000 on there hondas and no problems. Just take care of it, change the fluids and do normal maintenance on it and you will be fine.
