This saturday I am going to an auction to maybe buy my first bike. All they have listed is the VIN, and that its a 2001 CBR 600. What are the chances this is a F4i or an F4? What are the major differences between a 01 F4i and F4 other then the fuel injection? Is there anyway to decipher what kind it is with the VIN? They also have an 02 R6 with 24000 miles and a 04 GSXR with 9000 miles. Ive always liked the Honda so I was going to go with that, but I just realized they made the F4 until 2002 and I was banking on it was going to be a F4i. Which is slower, more reliable and will hold value better, the 02 R6 or a 01 F4? Also, how much are you guys paying to swap to the split seat? That looks much better but from what I have read you need quite a few different parts. Did any of the F4's come with the split seats?

 

Depends on the country you are from, but in the USA, they only made the f4 two years. 1999 and 2000.

 

Its 100% an F4i. Only real difference is fuel injection and fairings. They stopped making the F4s in 2000. Not 2002. F4i > R6. 2001 F4i already has split seats.

 

Well then, that solves that problem. I was just wondering because on here it says until 2002 they made the F4, but I forgot that other countries might be visiting this site! Thanks guys, although I kinda like the banana seat from the F4 after reading 19 pages of threads on here....
