Went down the other night, what to do.

I hit some gravel in a construction zone at night, and went down on my bike's right side @ about 15 mph. I'm fine (ty jacket and gloves), the bike's fine (except for the footpeg, but I've got a new one on the way), The absolutely devastating part is how scratched and mangled the right fairing is.
I bought the bike for 2600 last year (2000 f4, stock yellow) so I can't put that much cash into new fairings, or a repaint or anything, but I'm wondering what you guys would recommend to make the gouges lest noticeable. Sand + touchup? I'm more looking for the rough and dirty method, I'm more worried about riding then having a pretty bike, but still it just looks like death right now. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Sorry about your crash. If your R fairing is really "mangled" as you say, then def try to buy a used one off *bay, CL, or motorcycle salvage.
If its repairable, you can rattle-can it but surface prep is def the key to a good outcome. It will be tedious & time consuming but I've seen some really incredible repairs w/a little patience.
As mentioned, there's always the sticker route. CycleGear & other shops carry some large sheets of vinyl sticker...this is always an option to just cover it up.
Good luck.

you could always use mexican gold.... = duct tape ....jk
go get some 100 220 400 1000 1500 sand paper, some bondo if needed, and get to work. if there are any cracks, have them plastic welded... its cheap to have done, most cycle dismantlers do it.
if you do it all yourself, you will really appreciate the paint on your bike, I can tell you that much.... lots of hours involved

Thanks for all the replies, I'm still up in the air on what to do, it's really not that bad, here are some pics (cell phone), let me know what you guys think.

The crack around the light was already there, and I fixed it w/fiberglass so it's pretty solid, but it just looks a lot worse after dropping it.
Why are you getting new fairings dmcb?
