Progress.

Swinarm removed. Still have to measure if there's any weight difference between 99 and 06. I don't think so, but hopefully casting technique used for the 06 is better than the 99 one.

Also converting to total loss ignition. Raceloom finished and install. Alternator removed. Next up is the flywheel.

With absolutely no accouterments (pegs, locks, bolts/nuts, etc) on subframes, the weights are the following:
  • split-seat subframes = 6.2 lbs
  • banana-seat subframes = 7.0 lbs
That's a fairly significant weight difference.

Don't know the remainder of your list.

Sorry, my mistake. Swingarm instead of subframe ofcourse, but you're right. That's a significant weigth difference. I'm not sure what my subframe weighs. I cut most of it off since I only use my f4 for racing.

Think at the moment I have lost minimum 15kg over stock. Can't wait till I'm finished and see what she feels like.

All ready as she was before she was great as this video shows!

Ps: The guy on the gixxer 1000 should probably get a gs500 instead!

Looked at your pics & see that you've cut down your subframe. I'd imagine its pretty lightweight.

Sorry, don't have swingarm weight differences. If there is, it can't be significant.

Nice vid!

Give the Gix 1k guy a break. ;-) A liter bike will handle differently on the track than a 600. He could use some work on his form though. I've got an F4 & an RC51. They are vastly different. I can whip my F4 all over the place, the RC requires a little more setup.

Well, this week turned out to be a disaster!

First I found out that the brake disc's I had from the 1000RR was warped. New had to be bought. I wanted to go with PFM disc's, but since this week has been so expensive I bought some used ones from fleabay

Then I finally received my race radiator. DHL had lost it for 2 month. I unpacked with it haste only to find out that the seller had cheated me. The picture from fleabay didn't match the item I got. To late to do a dispute now, so I junked it right away. Need new radiator now also. Think I will get a 600RR one.

Well, can't let a bit of bad luck stop ya', now can you? So I stripped the bike of it's engine

The gearbox

Now if you look closely, you can see little wear marks on the cogs. That's enough for it to jump out of gear.

..... And the trouble again
I also bought a gearbox on freaking fleabay a couple of month ago. It looks exactly like the one in the f4. Except it wasn't. It was a little bigger. I think it is from a 900RR, but not certain. I DID NOT FIT!! So now I bought new gears again... This week has left me broke and first training in march is closing in.

Well, hopefully next week is going to be better.
Things to do and pictures to come next week.
OZ racing wheel to be mounted.
Jardine full titanium system to be mounted.
Factorypro jetkit, shiftstar and ignition advancer to be installed.
New gearbox.

Sorry to hear about your disappointments of the week. Here's hoping things go much much better for you in upcoming days.

Default Back in the garage

This week the new gearbox finally showed up. Not in as good a order as I had hoped, but it will do.

So gearbox back in and install the two crank case half's again. Remember to clean the surfaces before applying new sealant.

Plan for tomorrow.
Get bike up and running! Work left is remove flywheel and install HRC flywheel. Change to factory pro ignition advancer and jet kit. Install exhaust and radiator. Fill up with oil and gas!

There's probably more, but it's getting close to be ready for racing next week!
