Default Speedo and Tachometer-Making them work

I am building a custom bike. I Have a CBX engine and CBR 600 f4i gauges. I have looked at the wiring diagram and see that the speed sensor plugs into the top of the gear box and probably uses a magnetic pickup off the output shaft.

Question.
1.Could I fit a magnet to the drive sprocket and get the pickup from there?
2. Does the speedo have to be connected to theECM as per the wiring or can I somehow bypass this?
3. Is there a way of getting a signal to the tach without using the ECM. ie from the coils input or from the pick coils?
Any suggestions, advise will be welcomed.
Thanks
